Migraines Treated by iEMDR

iEMDR is a newly developed integrated treatment for migraines and headaches. David's own migraines were cured after having them for thirty years.

Migraines and headaches can be treated with iEMDR (Integrated Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).

This is a recently developed treatment which David has successfully had himself. The first session will establish whether or not this is a suitable treatment for you and you will be asked to complete a questionnaire to identify any known exclusions. Please contact us to arrange an appointment.

You are also invited to phone us (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) or get someone else to phone for you when you actually have a migraine or headache. We will try and see you when you have the pain. Tel 01626-779992 or 07525433766 or/07803415546 . This includes Saturdays which can be the most common time for migraines. We cannot, however, guarantee to be available.

Alternatively, you can phone at a different time to discuss your migraines or headaches.

David writes: "iEMDR is a comparatively new treatment which I have had myself. My life was dominated by migraines for over thirty years during which time I had over a thousand migraines losing at least 6 complete years of my life. I had numerous tablets, acupuncture, brain scans, herbal remedies and pain killers. My symptoms included pain, especially in the eye, disorientation, lack of coordination, speech problems, memory loss, sight problems, hyperventilating, sleep disturbance and nausea, to name but a few.

This is the only treatment that has worked for me and I haven't taken a tablet since I had treatment in London, several years ago. It works with about 70% of people. I'm delighted that I was one of the 70%. It has changed my life".

WHO (World Health Organisation) estimated that in 2003 303 million people worldwide were migraineurs. Migraine is one of the most common disorders of the nervous system with an estimate of 47% of the adult population having a headache at least once within the last year. In general, headaches are associated with personal and societal burdens of pain, disability, and damaged quality of life.

A 2004 article suggested that there are almost 20 million migraine attacks happening every day. The Atlas of Headache Disorders and Resources in the World (2011) states that globally the top 3 causes of consultation for headache are migraine, tension type headache and a combination of the two.

In the Global Burden of Diseases Study updated 2004, migraine on its own was found to account for 1.3% of years lost due to disability (YLD). Depression was found to be 3 times more common in people with migraine or severe headaches than in healthy adults.

In the UK 25 million working or school days are lost every year due to migraines alone. This financial cost is matched by tension headaches and chronic daily headache combined. Vast numbers of people cannot function until the headache has gone. Prescription medications may cause rebound and lower a person's headache tolerance for future headaches. Rebound increases sensitivity to headache triggers resulting in more headaches that require medication.

iEMDR has two phases:

Phase 1: is for the relief of acute headache pain and typical headache and migraine symptoms, such as vomiting and nausea.

PHASE 2: is a multi session EMDR headache and migraine treatment integrating the standard EMDR protocol to stop or reduce future headaches and migraine occurrence, duration, and severity.

NOT SUITABLE FOR HEADACHES RESULTING FROM CERTAIN MEDICAL CONDITIONS. WE WILL COVER THE EXCLUSIONS IN THE ASSESSMENT OR YOU CAN PHONE US TO DISCUSS

Maybe, you do not need to continue to be one of that vast number of migraine and headache sufferers. For more information, visit www.MigraineCentre.co.uk
